The Grape Dance

The grape dance usually takes place on the last Saturday in September (check the
calander to make sure)!

It is a celebration for the grape harvest. Traditionally, it is a time when the
grapes have been harvested, trampled, and the wine made.

This is a family-friendly time where the girls dance with bottles of wine or grape
juice on their heads, and the boys perform a stick dance, both in traditional
Hungarian garb.

The children take bags of grapes suspended from a frame.  Couples take to
the dance floor for Hungarian folk dances such as the csárdász.
